KABUL, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Work for construction of a new health clinic has started in Kamdish district of east Afghanistan's Nuristan province, the state-run Bakhtar News Agency reported on Saturday.
Built at a cost of 10 million afghanis (more than 134,000 U.S. dollars), the hospital aims to provide essential healthcare services to regional people in the district, the report said.
Like other parts of Afghanistan, the eastern Nuristan province had suffered from inaccessibility to the healthcare system during decades of war.
Welcoming the step as vital for reviving the local healthcare services, Afghan residents have asked for the construction of various infrastructure facilities for people's well-being, the report added.
As part of the efforts to rebuild war-torn Afghanistan, the Afghan caretaker government, besides launching development projects, has called upon domestic and international firms to invest in the country and create job opportunities for the poverty-stricken Afghan people. Enditem
