SYDNEY, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Police in the Australian state of Queensland announced on Saturday that human remains were located inside a crocodile as part of the recovery of a 60-year-old man reported missing from Aurukun in Far North Queensland.
Police and wildlife officers located and humanely euthanized the crocodile along Watson River on Friday night. Forensic testing was carried out on Saturday morning, with human remains located within the crocodile.
Further testing will be conducted to identify the remains, and the family of the missing man and the local council have been advised, according to the police.
Queensland Police announced on Feb. 1 that the man reported missing was last seen leaving his home at approximately midday on Jan. 30, and had not been seen or heard from since. He is believed to have headed to the mouth of the Ward, Watson and Archer Rivers to go fishing.
Police, State and Emergency Service volunteers, aerial assets including a helicopter and drone, and a wildlife ranger had deployed to the region to assist in search efforts. Enditem
