BEIRUT, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf reaffirmed on Sunday his country's support for Lebanon, emphasizing that Algeria will stand by the Lebanese people in all circumstances.
During his meeting with President Joseph Aoun, Attaf conveyed Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and assisting Lebanon in overcoming its challenges.
"Lebanon is going through a delicate phase in its history, working to strengthen its institutions, revive its economy, and ensure security. In all these phases, Algeria remains firmly by Lebanon's side," Attaf said, according to a statement released by Lebanon's presidency.
Attaf and Aoun discussed enhancing Lebanese-Algerian cooperation, particularly in the economic field, and reactivating a joint Lebanese-Algerian business council, said the statement.
The Algerian minister also highlighted Algeria's ongoing efforts at the UN Security Council to support Lebanon's rightful positions and called for stronger coordination between the two nations in regional and international forums.
Aoun, in turn, expressed his appreciation for Algeria's continued solidarity. He also thanked Tebboune for his invitation to visit Algeria and reaffirmed Lebanon's commitment to strengthening ties with Algeria across all sectors. Enditem
