ABIDJAN, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- At least six people were killed and 18 others injured when a truck and a minibus collided in central Cote d'Ivoire on Sunday, according to a security source.

Xinhua was told that the goods trailer hit the minibus at the village of Djebonoua near the city of Bouake on the road between Bouake and Tiebissou. The cause of the accident remains unknown.

After the collision, several passengers were trapped in the ruined car. With support from the military firefighters group of Bouake, rescuers removed bodies from the wreckage and transported the injured to hospital.

Each year, approximately 6,000 road accidents are reported in the western African country, with some 600 deaths and more than 13,000 injuries, according to data from the National Road Safety Office. Enditem
