RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Former Bordeaux midfielder Otavio could leave Atletico Mineiro to join Brazilian Serie A rival Fluminense, according to media reports in the South American country.

Fluminense manager Mano Menezes has made Otavio a prime transfer target after the club failed in its bid to sign Colombian enforcer Gustavo Cuellar, who joined Gremio last month from Al Shabab.

Fluminense has begun negotiating with Atletico in the hope of signing Otavio before the close of Brazil's summer transfer window on February 28, news outlet Globo Esporte reported.

Otavio has made 141 appearances across all competitions for Atletico Mineiro, having joined the club from Bordeaux in February 2022.

His existing agreement with the Belo Horizonte club is due to expire in June 2026. Enditem
