FARAH, Afghanistan, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Three people were killed and two others sustained injuries as an explosive device struck a car in Pushtkoh district of western Afghanistan's Farah province on Monday, deputy district chief Mawlawi Masrori said Tuesday.
The explosive device, which had been left over from past wars, struck a car on Monday evening, killing three commuters on the spot and injuring two others, according to the official.
Afghanistan is reportedly one of the most landmine-contaminated countries in the world. Dozens of people, mostly children, are killed or maimed every month due to blasts of explosive devices left over from more than four decades of war and civil unrest in the past. Enditem
