TUNIS, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Tunisia's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday rejected proposals to displace Gaza Strip residents, describing them as attempts to undermine the Palestinian cause.

In a statement, the ministry condemned the ongoing destruction in Gaza and urged the Arab and Islamic worlds, along with the international community, to oppose any forced displacement.

It warned that such moves echo historical injustices against Palestinians and reaffirmed the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The comments came amid heightened concerns following remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who recently suggested redeveloping Gaza and relocating its population to neighboring countries including Egypt and Jordan. They also followed an interview with Israel's Channel 14, in which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Saudi Arabia could host a Palestinian state.

The statement also expressed support for Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan in defending their sovereignty and stability. "Tunisia fully supports the measures taken by these nations to counter such challenges and safeguard their security," it said. Enditem
