NEW DELHI, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- India's retail inflation eased to a five-month low of 4.31 percent in January this year, the latest government data showed Wednesday.
According to data released by the federal Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, inflation based on the consumer price index (CPI) in January 2025 is 4.31 percent.
In December 2024, CPI was 5.22 percent.
Food inflation declined to 6.02 percent in January 2025 from 8.39 percent in December 2024, the data showed.
India's central bank, the Reserve Bank of India, maintains a mandate to keep retail inflation at 4 percent with a margin of 2 percent above or below this target. Enditem
