MOSCOW, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Moscow will never discuss proposals of a potential territory swap between Russia and Ukraine, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

"Ukrainian troops will be expelled from the territory of Russia. Those who are not destroyed will be expelled," Peskov said, referring to Russia's Kursk region partly occupied by the Ukrainian army.

He said Moscow has never and will never discuss such a deal, calling it "simply impossible."

On the same day, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said the idea of a potential territory exchange between Russia and Ukraine is "complete nonsense."

The comments came after recent remarks by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that he plans to propose to Russia a direct exchange of territory if U.S. President Donald Trump manages to get Kiev and Moscow together at the negotiation table.

On Tuesday, Trump said he would send U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to visit Ukraine to discuss the issue of ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The war between Russia and Ukraine "must and will end soon," Trump said in a Truth Social post, adding that there has been "too much death and destruction." Enditem
