DUBAI, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke by phone with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss the developments in the Middle East, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported on Wednesday.
During the phone conversation, they addressed regional and international issues of common interest, WAM added.
The UAE president stressed the importance of working towards a just and comprehensive peace in the region, ensuring security and stability for all sides, based on the two-state solution.
Their discussions also covered strengthening cooperation across various fields within the framework of the two countries' strategic relationship, said WAM.
According to a press release from the U.S. Department of State, the two sides discussed the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the importance of ensuring that Hamas releases all hostages, including American citizens. Enditem
