JAKARTA, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana on Wednesday reaffirmed the government's commitment to achieving its 2025 targets for the tourism sector, despite recent budget efficiency measures.

Speaking at a working meeting with the Indonesian House of Representatives, Widiyanti expressed optimism about reaching the goals set by the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas).

"The target projections have been determined by Bappenas, and we are not making new projections because we are confident we can achieve them," said Widiyanti, adding that the Ministry of Tourism will continue to pursue its goals, even with a reduced budget.

The Ministry of Tourism has some key targets for 2025, including a 4.6 percent contribution of the tourism sector to Indonesia's GDP, tourism foreign exchange earnings of 19 billion U.S. dollars to 22.1 billion U.S. dollars, and foreign tourist visits reaching 14.6 to 16 million.

Additionally, the ministry aims to achieve 1.08 billion domestic tourist trips, employ 25.8 million tourism workers, and secure a Travel & Tourism Development Index ranking of 22.

The ministry's 2025 budget has been adjusted to 884.9 billion rupiah (around 56.63 million dollars) following an efficiency directive from the Ministry of Finance, reduced by 603.8 billion rupiah (approximately 38.64 million dollars). Despite this reduction, Widiyanti promised that the efficiency measures would not impact employee salaries or result in staff reductions. Enditem
