U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar softened in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased by 0.02 percent to 107.938 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro added to 1.0391 U.S. dollars from 1.0358 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound increased to 1.2446 dollars from 1.2438 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 154.43 Japanese yen, higher than 152.49 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was up to 0.9133 Swiss francs from 0.9132 Swiss francs, and it declined to 1.4284 Canadian dollars from 1.4294 Canadian dollars.
