NIAMEY, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Four soldiers were injured in a recent improvised explosive device attack on a mission in the southwestern region of Tillabery, Nigerien defense and security forces said Wednesday.

The security operations from Sunday to Wednesday across the country have arrested 27 terrorists, some of whom are linked to the Boko Haram group and others to the Islamic State in West Africa, the army said in a statement.

These operations have confiscated a significant amount of weapons of war and ammunition, two vehicles loaded with supplies, motorcycles, three Motorola radios, as well as several stolen heads of cattle and a large quantity of fuel.

The statement did not specify when the explosion happened though.

Niger faces acts of violence in some of its bordering regions due to terrorist organizations, particularly armed groups and other bandits that have been controlling southern Libya since the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011, as well as terrorist groups linked to Al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb, Ansar Dine and other movements based in northern Mali.

In addition, the terrorist group Boko Haram, established in Nigeria in 2009, spreads terror in Niger's southeastern region of Diffa. Enditem
