BANGKOK, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's consumer confidence rose for a fourth straight month in January, reaching the highest level in eight months, mainly thanks to the government's economic measures, along with improved tourism and exports, a survey showed on Thursday.

According to the survey of 2,244 respondents conducted by the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the consumer confidence index climbed to 59 last month from 57.9 in December 2024 as all components of the index increased.

The upturn in consumer confidence signals that the Thai economy is poised for recovery, supported by improving tourism and exports, said the university's president Thanavath Phonvichai.

The government's capacity to maintain effective economic stimulus measures and avoid further domestic or international risk factors will determine whether this optimistic outlook continues, the university said in a statement. Enditem
