MADRID, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- FC Barcelona announced on Thursday that 18-year-old defender Pau Cubarsi has become the latest player to extend his contract at the club.
Cubarsi follows Pedri, Gerard Martin, and Ronald Araujo, who have all recently signed new deals, with the defender committing to Barcelona until the end of June 2029.
The new contract caps off an incredible 13 months for the Barca youth team product. He made his first-team debut in the Copa del Rey against Unionists de Salamanca on January 18, 2024, and his La Liga debut just four days later on his 17th birthday.
Cubarsi has since made 60 first-team appearances and established himself as a regular in the Spanish national team squad, having played five times for Luis de la Fuente's side. He also contributed as part of the Spanish team that won the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
"I'm really happy to renew my contract with the club I have always supported and which has given me everything. I'm really proud," said Cubarsi, adding he was "looking forward to playing as many games as possible and winning titles." Enditem
