Kyrgyz president meets with CSTO secretary general

BISHKEK, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov met with Imangali Tasmagambetov, Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan announced on Thursday.

Japarov was presented with the Action Plan for implementing the decisions of the autumn (2024) session of the CSTO Collective Security Council and for carrying out the priority areas of the CSTO during Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship.

In this context, Japarov expressed confidence that the priorities set by Kyrgyzstan during its chairmanship in 2025 will positively impact the improvement of the collective security system in all its key elements: coordination of political activities, military cooperation, and countering transnational challenges and threats.

Tasmagambetov thanked the leadership of Kyrgyzstan for its active position within the Organization and expressed confidence that Kyrgyzstan's initiatives will contribute to strengthening collective security and increasing the effectiveness of interaction among CSTO member states.

The two sides expressed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation within the CSTO, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts in ensuring stability in the region.
