SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- A pileup involving more than 100 vehicles has closed westbound Interstate 84 near Multnomah Falls, the U.S. state of Oregon, on Thursday, according to officials.

The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) said the pileup incident involved more than 100 cars, trucks and semi-trucks. An SUV caught on fire and everyone inside the vehicle got out safely.

Multiple people stuck in their vehicles in the crash area. Responders have arrived, and more are en route, MCSO said.

There are reports of injuries, but the exact number and extent of those injuries are unknown at this time.

The I-84 westbound route remains closed at Multnomah Falls, MCSO said, warning people to avoid traveling if possible. Enditem
