KABUL, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- At least four commuters were killed and 10 others injured in a traffic accident in eastern Afghanistan's Wardak province on Thursday night, local media Tolonews reported Friday.

The incident took place on a road in the province's Dasht-e-Top area along the highway linking the capital of Kabul to southern Kandahar province when two passenger vehicles collided, leaving the four dead, including a woman, on the spot and 10 others injured, the report said.

The injured have been taken to the provincial hospital for treatment, some of them in critical condition, the report added.

Road accidents due to reckless driving on congested roads and lack of traffic signs on dilapidated highways are leading causes of death in the war-ravaged country. Enditem
