ISLAMABAD, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Thirteen terrorists were killed in separate operations in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, the military said on Thursday.

The security forces conducted intelligence-based operations in Dera Ismail Khan, North Waziristan, Lakki Marwat and Khyber districts of KP, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, said in a statement.

During the operation in Dera Ismail Khan district, five terrorists were killed during a clash between security forces and terrorists, said the ISPR statement.

In two separate encounters in North Waziristan, five terrorists were killed after an intense exchange of fire, the ISPR said.

In another encounter in Lakki Marwat district, security forces killed another two terrorists, said the ISPR, adding that a terrorist was also killed in an operation in Khyber district of the province.

A huge cache of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the killed terrorists, who had remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces as well as the killing of civilians in the area.

A clearance operation is being carried out to eliminate the presence of other terrorists in the area.

The military said the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country. Enditem
