KUALA LUMPUR, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's current account balance (CAB) continued a surplus by recording 32.8 billion ringgit (7.39 billion U.S. dollars) in 2024, fuelled by net exports and stronger trade in services, official data showed Friday.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement that the country achieved a CAB of 11.4 billion ringgit in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Meanwhile, the financial account registered a net outflow of 5.8 billion ringgit during the quarter, bringing the total net outflows for year 2024 to 14.8 billion ringgit.
Foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows climbed to 18.4 billion ringgit in the fourth quarter of 2024, summing up the annual total to 47.4 billion ringgit.
Meanwhile, the country's direct investment abroad (DIA) outflows recorded 700 million ringgit for the quarter, accumulating to 36.4 billion ringgit in 2024. (1 ringgit equals 0.23 U.S. dollar) Enditem
