KUALA LUMPUR, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's Retirement Fund Incorporated announced its highest-ever investment income of 18 billion ringgit (4.04 billion U.S. dollars) in 2024, delivering a total return of 12 percent.

The fund said in a statement on Thursday that its domestic investments generated returns of 12.9 percent, while the international portfolio delivered returns of 9 percent.

Meanwhile, its fund size grew to 185.6 billion ringgit, reflecting a 9.3 percent increase from 169.8 billion ringgit in 2023.

According to the fund's chief executive officer Nik Amlizan Mohamed, the performance in 2024 was underpinned by the resilience of Malaysia's economy.

"Although global uncertainties and geopolitical risks remain, we will stay vigilant, adapting our strategies to mitigate risks and seize emerging opportunities," he said. (1 ringgit equals 0.22 U.S. dollars) Enditem
