HARBIN, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- The cauldron for the 9th Asian Winter Games was extinguished at Harbin Ice-Snow World during the closing ceremony on Friday night.

In the shape of a blooming lilac flower, the cauldron was ignited at the opening ceremony on February 7, inspiring over 1,200 athletes from 34 countries and regions across Asia to compete over the past week.

Host China topped the medal tally with 32 gold, 27 silver, and 26 bronze medals, tying the record for the most gold medals set by Kazakhstan at the 7th Asian Winter Games in Astana-Almaty in 2011.

Saudi Arabia will host the 10th Asian Winter Games in 2029. Enditem
