ISLAMABAD -- At least 11 people were killed and six others injured on Friday in a bomb blast near a vehicle in Harnai district of Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province, said an official.

Deputy Commissioner of Harnai Hazrat Wali told Xinhua that a roadside bomb blast hit a vehicle carrying laborers in Shahrag area of Harnai, leaving 11 dead and six others injured. (Pakistan-Balochistan-Blast)

NEW DELHI -- India's federal government imposed direct rule in the restive northeastern state of Manipur, four days after Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh tendered his resignation, officials said Friday.

The decision was announced Thursday evening through a notification from the federal home ministry that the president's rule in the state has been imposed under Article 356 of the Indian Constitution. (India-Manipur-Direct rule)

BANGKOK -- Thailand's economy is projected to expand 2.9 percent this year, down from the 3 percent forecast in October 2024, bolstered by higher domestic demand and fiscal stimulus, the World Bank said on Friday.

The Southeast Asian country's economic growth will be driven by a rebound in investment, supported by higher budget execution and implementation of infrastructure projects, while tourism and private consumption will remain key but slowing drivers, the bank said in a report. SEOUL -- South Korea's finance ministry saw a dimmer economic situation on Friday amid growing uncertainties at home and abroad.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance said in its monthly report, called Green Book, that the Asian economy recently was under downward pressure on the back of sluggish economic sentiment, affected by increased uncertainties at home and abroad. (South Korea-Economic Report) Enditem
