WARSAW, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- Austrian Alexander Stockl unexpectedly announced his resignation as sports director of the Polish Ski Association.
Polish ski jumping has experienced a major upheaval as Stockl stepped down after only six months with the team. He had been appointed as sports director of the Polish Ski Association (PZN) in August 2024.
The resignation stemmed from a clash with association president Adam Malysz who publicly criticized Stockl last week.
"We demand more from him. He keeps saying time is needed, but we can't wait any longer," the former legendary jumper said in an interview for TVP Sport.
On Monday, Stockl issued a media statement announcing termination of his cooperation with PZN.
"I witnessed internal matters being leaked to the media without prior notification to the interested parties. The latest incident was Malysz's live TV interview where he expressed dissatisfaction with my work without prior discussion," the 51-year-old stated.
"I have no intention of getting involved any further. I hereby resign as sports director for ski jumping," Stockl added. Enditem
