HANOI, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's shrimp export value recorded a 13 percent increase in January 2025, reaching a total of 273.3 million U.S. dollars, Vietnam News Agency cited the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers on Tuesday.
The growth accounted for 35.3 percent of Vietnam's total seafood export turnover, contributing significantly to the country's overall seafood export performance, said the report.
According to experts, the resilience of Vietnam's shrimp industry in 2024 laid the groundwork for a strong start to 2025.
Tran Dinh Luan, deputy director general of the Directorate of Fisheries, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said shrimp exports are expected to see strong growth this year to potential markets, such as Australia, the Middle East, the UK and the Republic of Korea.
The industry aims to gain an export value of 4.3 billion dollars this year, an increase of about 300 million dollars year-on-year, said the ministry. Enditem
