ISLAMABAD, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan has launched a mobile application to streamline its visa-on-arrival process for citizens of 120 countries to enhance convenience for international travelers, the Interior Ministry said on Monday.

The "Pak ID" application, developed by the National Database and Registration Authority, allows users to apply for Pakistani visas, check application status, and obtain visas online.

Pakistan's Online Visa System is open for the citizens of 192 countries, while citizens from 120 countries are eligible to apply for a visa prior to arrival and can use the application, the ministry said.

The initiative is expected to simplify the process for businessmen, tourists, and pilgrims seeking entry into the South Asian country.

With advanced features such as facial recognition, passport scanning, and document verification, the app enables applicants to complete biometric verification using their mobile phones.

Travelers can submit facial photographs and digital passport details online, eliminating the need for physical visits to embassies or consulates. Enditem
