HANOI, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- The exports of Vietnam's fresh coconuts and coconut products in 2024 hit the highest value in 14 years with nearly 1.1 billion U.S. dollars, up over 20 percent from 2023, according to the General Department of Customs.

China is the largest export market, accounting for 25 percent of Vietnam's total coconut exports in terms of value, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Despite generating billions of dollars in export revenue, the current figures still do not fully reflect the potential and advantages of Vietnam's coconut industry, said the ministry's representatives.

Cao Ba Dang Khoa, general secretary of the Vietnam Coconut Association, said many fresh coconut export orders had faced delays due to a shortage of plantation codes, packing codes and unstable raw material sources, over the third and fourth quarters of 2024. Enditem
