RIYADH -- The United States and Russia have agreed to work on a path to ending the conflict in Ukraine and improve bilateral ties during extensive high-level talks in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

In the first face-to-face interactions between senior U.S. and Russian officials since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in February 2022, the Russian delegation, led by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and the Kremlin's foreign affairs adviser Yuri Ushakov, met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who was accompanied by National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and U.S. special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff. GAZA -- Hamas reaffirmed on Tuesday its willingness to implement the second and third phases of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said in a statement that the group had agreed, at the request of a mediator, to double the number of Israeli hostages to be released, demonstrating its commitment to the deal. (Hamas-Gaza-Truce Deal)

ACCRA -- At least 49 people have died from a cholera outbreak in Ghana, with 719 cases confirmed, Minister of Health Kwabena Mintah Akandoh said Tuesday.

Briefing parliament on the country's current health emergencies, Akandoh said the outbreak, which began in the Greater Accra Region in October 2024, has since spread to four additional regions. (Ghana-Cholera-Death) Enditem
