Jordan, Kazakhstan sign deals to boost ties

AMMAN, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Jordan and Kazakhstan signed multiple agreements on Wednesday to enhance diplomatic and economic ties.

During Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's visit to Jordan, the two countries signed an agreement and four memorandums of understanding, covering investment partnerships, nuclear energy, economy, industry, and media cooperation.

King Abdullah II of Jordan said Tokayev's visit is an important opportunity to build on the strong relations between the two countries and expand private-sector cooperation, commending Kazakhstan's efforts to enhance investment cooperation.

Tokayev expressed his country's keenness to strengthen bilateral cooperation and build on the agreements between the two countries to serve mutual interests, highlighting the shared positions between the two countries on international developments.

The Kazakh president also expressed his country's support for Jordan's stance against the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, and praised the kingdom's efforts in providing aid to the strip.

Their discussions also covered the critical developments in the region, particularly in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as efforts to promote stability in Syria and Lebanon. Enditem
