ISLAMABAD, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chairman of Pakistani Prime Minister's Youth Program Rana Mashhood Ahmed said on Friday that the country has been taking measures to support and promote youth for national development.
Stressing the critical role of youth in Pakistan's growth, Ahmed said that more than 60 percent of the population comprise young people, adding that to compete globally, students need to focus on research as the government is taking strong measures to provide an enabling environment.
The official said that the incumbent government has launched several initiatives including a laptop scheme, scholarship programs and recruitment of additional teachers as well as imposed an education emergency, reaffirming the country's commitment to educational reforms and youth empowerment.
Besides that, youth development centers were being activated in every university across the country, offering students opportunities to access top global institutions, he said, adding that a digital hub portal is being kicked off in Pakistan, promising a one-click gateway to the world. Enditem
