Stolz takes two golds at ISU Speed Skating World Cup in Poland

WARSAW, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Jordan Stolz of the United States won gold medals in the men's 500m and 1,500m events, while China's Ning Zhongyan and Han Mei came third at the ISU Speed Skating World Cup at the Arena Lodowa in Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland on Friday.

In the men's 1,500m, Stolz set a new track record in 1:45.085, edging Norway's Peder Kongshaug (1:45.089) to second. Ning clocked 1:46.06 for bronze.

Earlier in the day, Stolz finished on top in 34.49 in the 500m competition, ahead of Laurent Dubreuil of Canada (34.73) and South Korea's Kim Jun-ho (34.77).

Han secured bronze in the women's 1,500m after finishing the race in 1:57.56. Marijke Groenewoud of the Netherlands clocked a winning time of 1:56.67, ahead of Japan's Miho Takagi (1:57.50).

Erin Jackson of the United States claimed gold in the women's 500m in 38.08. Suzanne Schulting of the Netherlands took silver with a time of 38.17, while host skater Kaja Ziomek-Nogal crossed the line in 38.31 to round out the podium.
