LIMA, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Peru's economy grew 3.3 percent in 2024, recovering from the previous year's recession, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported Friday.

In the fourth quarter, the economy expanded 4.2 percent year over year, driven by strong household consumption, fixed investment and rising exports, said the report.

Notable export gains included a 356.1 percent increase in silver shipments and a 50.1 percent rise in natural gas exports.

After recovering from a rare recession in 2023, Peru is now among the fastest-growing countries in Latin America, boasting the lowest inflation and benchmark interest rates among the region's top economies, according to Bloomberg. Enditem
