SYDNEY, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- A teenage boy has been taken into custody after a senior man died in a fatal crash in Australia's state of Queensland on Saturday morning.

Queensland police said in a statement on Saturday that the crash took place at approximately 10:40 a.m. in Kingston, a town over 20 km southeast of Brisbane, the state's capital city. A white Holden Barina and a red Ford Focus collided before the Ford Focus left the road and crashed into a mobility scooter.

A 76-year-old Kingston man who was on the mobility scooter was declared deceased at the scene.

A 17-year-old boy, the driver of the Ford Focus, was taken into custody at the scene.

Initial investigations indicate a male and female, believed to be occupants of the Ford Focus, were observed leaving the scene on foot.

The driver and sole occupant of the Holden Barina was not physically injured.

Investigation into the accident is ongoing. Enditem
