MANILA, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Three people were killed and another was injured after two motorcycles collided in Rizal province, east of Manila, past midnight on Saturday, the police said.

The police said the crash happened on the national road of Morong town after one of the motorcycles occupied the opposite lane to overtake a vehicle and collided head-on with the oncoming motorcycle.

Each motorcycle carried a driver and a passenger.

The police said the driver and the passenger of one of the motorcycles, both males aged 20 and 22, died, along with the 18-year-old male passenger of another motorcycle. Another driver was injured.

The police did not say whether the four motorcyclists were wearing protective helmets during the crash, which is required under Philippine law. Enditem
