ISLAMABAD, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Australia powered to a historic victory, successfully chasing down England's 352-run target to complete the highest successful run chase in men's International Cricket Council (ICC) tournament history in Lahore, Pakistan, on Saturday night.

Josh Inglis starred with an unbeaten 120 off 86 balls, guiding Australia to victory in the 48th over.

Despite Ben Duckett's record-breaking 165 off 143 balls, the highest individual score in Champions Trophy history, England's total proved insufficient on a flat batting track.

Joe Root's composed 68 helped England post the tournament's highest-ever total, but the team's bowlers struggled under the lights, battling dew and Australia's aggressive batting lineup.

Australia's chase got off to a shaky start, losing Travis Head and stand-in captain Steven Smith early. However, Matthew Short (63) and Marnus Labuschagne (47) steadied the innings before Inglis and Alex Carey (56) took control. Even after Carey's dismissal, Inglis remained composed, sealing the win with a six in the final overs.

England's bowlers, particularly Brydon Carse and Jofra Archer, struggled with line and length, allowing Australia to capitalize on the favorable conditions. Adil Rashid's tight six-over spell briefly gave England hope, but once he was removed from the attack, Australia regained control.

The defeat leaves England facing must-win matches against Afghanistan and South Africa to stay in contention.

At the post-match ceremony, England captain Jos Buttler said, "A fantastic game, both sides played well, credit to Australia, fantastic innings from Inglis. 350 is a pretty good score, but it was wet and the dew was a worry. We bowled well, created chances, but credit to Australia."
