LUSAKA, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Zambia and Tanzania on Monday pledged to work together to tackle the threat of transnational crimes.
The two countries made the commitment during a joint permanent commission meeting held in Zambia's southern city of Livingstone, according to a statement.
Mambo Hamaundu, permanent secretary in Zambia's Ministry of Defense, called on the two sides to work together to combat the growing threat of human trafficking on their shared border.
He said the defense and security institutions of both countries should come up with effective strategies to fight transnational crimes that are posing a threat to peace and security in the region.
Faraji Mnyepe, permanent secretary in Tanzania's Ministry of Defense and National Service, emphasized the need for the two countries to work closely together to stamp out common crimes across borders.
He also paid tribute to the historical and cordial ties the two countries have enjoyed laid down by the founding fathers. Enditem
