SINGAPORE, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- The proportion of university graduates in Singapore securing full-time jobs has decreased to 79.5 percent in 2024, down from 84.1 percent in 2023, according to the latest graduate employment survey released on Monday.

Despite the drop in full-time job placements, graduates who did secure positions saw higher earnings, with the median gross monthly salary rising to 4,500 Singapore dollars (about 3,375 U.S. dollars) in 2024, up from 4,317 Singapore dollars the previous year.

The survey, which covered about 12,500 graduates from full-time programs at five major universities, also revealed a rise in unemployment among fresh graduates, with 12.9 percent jobless in 2024, compared to 10.4 percent in 2023.

This group includes those actively seeking employment or preparing to start a job or business venture. (1 Singapore dollar equals 0.75 U.S. dollars) Enditem
