VIENTIANE, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Lao National Commission for the Advancement of Women and Mother-Children (NCAWMC) convened in Vientiane to enhance efforts to promote the rights and well-being of women, mothers, and children in the country.

Speaking at the meeting on Monday, Vice President of the NCAWMC and the Lao Women's Union Chansoda Phonethip emphasized that the seminar aimed to raise awareness and reinforce policies promoting gender equality and the advancement of women and children in the country.

"The seminar aligns with the Party and state's implementation of the ninth Five-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan (2021-2025)," Lao News Agency on Tuesday quoted Chansoda as saying.

The meeting also discussed the review of three key national action plans for gender equality as well as women and children.

At the meeting, Chansoda highlighted the significance of the upcoming open meeting of NCAWMC, scheduled for March 2025. This meeting will serve as a platform to assess the progress and effectiveness of the commission's activities over the past year.

She called for continued collaboration among various institutions, including the National Assembly, the Lao Women's Union, and NCAWMC, to achieve gender equality, emphasizing the societal responsibility of advancing women's progress. Enditem
