Senior Lao officials discuss key national issues

VIENTIANE, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- The 11th Extraordinary Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) was held to discuss key national and party issues.

The meeting, held from Monday to Tuesday, was chaired by Thongloun Sisoulith, general secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Lao president, the local Pasaxon newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The session focused on key national and party issues, including proposed amendments to the 2015 Constitution, revisions to the Law on Local Administration, and the establishment of new communes.

Discussions also covered Laos' foreign relations, future international cooperation, and preparations for the upcoming 12th National Congress of the party.

The outcomes of the session will be submitted to the second extraordinary session of the ninth National Assembly, set for mid-March.

In his speech, Thongloun emphasized the importance of thorough study, debate and decision-making on these issues to advance the country's innovation and strengthen its democratic state. Enditem
