DAMASCUS, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Syrian National Dialogue Conference concluded in Damascus on Tuesday with a comprehensive statement outlining key resolutions intended to shape the country's post-conflict trajectory.
Convened at the Presidential Palace, the one-day conference brought together representatives from across Syrian society, who agreed to issue a final communique.
The communique reaffirmed Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty, rejecting any partition while condemning Israel's military presence in the country as a violation that requires "immediate and unconditional withdrawal."
The statement also asserted that state control over arms is "a necessity, not a luxury," stressing that only the state should have authority over military forces.
Among other major resolutions, participants called for an interim constitutional declaration to bridge legal gaps during the transition period, alongside the formation of a temporary legislative council based on competence and fair representation.
The conference endorsed creating a constitutional committee to draft a permanent constitution balancing state powers while upholding justice, freedom, and equality.
The conference urged the international community to lift sanctions that "place an undue burden on Syria and hinder its reconstruction efforts." Enditem
