Flooding kills 6, injures 5 in Afghanistan's Helmand

LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- At least six people have been killed and five others were injured after flash floods caused by heavy rains in southern Afghanistan's Helmand province, a local official reported Wednesday.

The recent flash floods swept through multiple regions, including Garashk, Sangin, Musa Qala, Nawzad, Babaji districts and Lashkar Gah city, the capital of the province, said Hafiz Abdul Bari Rashid, provincial director of information and culture.

On Tuesday, rain-related incidents in the provinces of Kandahar and Farah, adjacent to Helmand, killed 29 people and injured several others.

Since Monday, most parts of Afghanistan have experienced rain and snowfall. The country's meteorological department has forecasted snowfall and intermittent rain in 32 out of the 34 provinces. Enditem
