JAKARTA, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has successfully concluded negotiations with global tech giant Apple regarding the extension of the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) certification, allowing the company to continue selling its products in the country, according to Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita on Wednesday.

He said that following this agreement, the TKDN certificate will be issued by the Ministry of Industry, while the Ministry of Communication and Digital will grant the distribution permit for the iPhone 16.

As a result of these negotiations, Indonesia has secured several beneficial commitments from Apple. The agreements include a direct investment of 160 million U.S. dollars as part of the TKDN extension for the new cycle.

Additionally, Apple has pledged to establish a research and development facility in Indonesia, along with the Apple Software Innovation and Technology Institute and the Apple Professional Developer Academy.

Furthermore, Apple has settled its outstanding TKDN extension obligations for the 2020-2023 period by paying 10 million U.S. dollars as of Dec. 16, 2024. Enditem
