BEIRUT, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Oman looks forward to strengthening cooperation with Lebanon and activating the work of a joint committee between the two countries, visiting Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi said here Wednesday.
During a meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at the Baabda Palace, which also saw the attendance of Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji, Albusaidi stressed "the strong relations between Lebanon and the Sultanate of Oman," according to a report by Lebanon's state-run National News Agency (NNA).
Albusaidi, heading an Omani delegation, also "delivered an official invitation to President Aoun to visit Oman to discuss ways to develop and activate bilateral relations in the interest of the two brotherly countries," the NNA reported.
For his part, Aoun thanked the Omani side for its "constant support for Lebanon in all circumstances" and its official invitation, which Aoun "duly accepted, promising to visit soon," the NNA reported.
Aoun described Albusaidi's visit as "an occasion to confirm the depth of the Lebanese-Omani relations," according to the report.
The Lebanese president also expressed hope that the upcoming emergency Arab summit, scheduled for March 4 in Egypt's Cairo, will yield "a unified Arab position to address the region's current challenges," the report added.
Following the meeting, Albusaidi wrote on social media platform X that the "fruitful" talks between him and Aoun "reflected the depth and strength of Omani-Lebanese relations and the commitment of the two countries to strengthening them in all fields." Enditem
