BAGHDAD, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani met Wednesday with Russian Minister of Energy Sergei Tsivilev, during which they discussed cooperation in various fields, particularly in the energy and oil sectors.

During the meeting, al-Sudani received an official invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism, scheduled for May, according to a statement issued by al-Sudani's media office.

Al-Sudani reaffirmed Iraq's commitment to expanding cooperation with Russia across multiple sectors, particularly in advancing partnerships and expertise in artificial intelligence, it added.

For his part, Tsivilev highlighted the progress made in the 10th session of the Iraq-Russia Joint Committee, currently being held in Baghdad under his leadership, noting that the session has resulted in memorandums of understanding and agreements in maritime transport, healthcare, and the oil sector, said the statement.

He also emphasized Russia's desire to further strengthen the partnership between the two countries in various fields of mutual interest. Enditem
