JAKARTA, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese automaker Geely has achieved a major milestone with over 1,000 vehicle purchase orders for its EX5 series in Indonesia since its launch, highlighting the country's growing interest in electric vehicles (EVs).

According to a press release received from Geely on Thursday, the purchase orders came from various sources, including the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025, the country's largest automotive exhibition, held in Jakarta from Feb. 13 to Feb. 23.

During the IIMS, the Geely booth attracted over 10,000 visitors, many participating in the Geely EX5 test drive sessions. The brand garnered positive feedback from the visitors, thanks to the EX5's performance, comfort, and advanced technology, the press release noted.

Beyond being a crowd favorite, Geely also secured the "Favorite Newcomer Brand" award at the IIMS Awards 2025, further strengthening its reputation as an innovative, customer-focused automotive brand, it added.

According to the release, Geely plans to begin local production of the EX5 in the third quarter of 2025 at Handal Indonesia Motor in Purwakarta, West Java province, so that Indonesian customers can soon get more competitive pricing and faster unit availability. Enditem
