KABUL, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan interim government's Ministry of Public Works announced on Thursday the signing of three Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with Turkmenistan, which focused on improving railway infrastructure in Afghanistan.
"These MoUs cover the extension of the Herat-Turghundi station, the completion of the remaining 10 km of the Aqina-Andkhoy railway, as well as an in-depth study and design for the 55 km of the Andkhoy-Sheberghan railway," Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesman for the ministry, posted on his social media account X.
The extension contracts for these projects between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan will be signed soon, paving the way for the start of practical work, Haqshenas added.
The Afghan interim government has urged both local and international organizations to invest in the country, aiming to strengthen the economy and generate employment opportunities. Enditem
