TRIPOLI, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Libyan Prime Minister Abdul-Hamed Dbeibah stressed here on Thursday the importance of enhancing the country's intelligence capabilities.

Attending a graduation ceremony of 700 military intelligence officers, Dbeibah said "enhancing intelligence capabilities has become an urgent national necessity to keep pace with the accelerating regional and international security challenges," according to a statement issued by the Libyan government on Facebook.

The Libyan government is committed to "establishing a modern, disciplined military institution capable of protecting the national sovereignty and securing the resources of the Libyan people," Dbeibah said.

The ceremony, attended by several senior government officials, featured a military parade and the inauguration of new military and service facilities for the General Directorate of Military Intelligence.

Ever since the fall of the late leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, Libya has been struggling to make a democratic transition amid insecurity and unrest. Enditem
