RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Matias Zaracho and Bruno Zuculini scored second-half goals as Argentina's Racing secured the Recopa Sudamericana title on Thursday with a 2-0 away victory over Brazilian club Botafogo.

Zaracho broke the deadlock with a deft chip over goalkeeper John Furtado and Zuculini doubled the lead by controlling Gaston Martirena's pass with his chest and firing an unstoppable shot into the far corner.

The result at Rio's Olympic Stadium gave Racing a 4-0 victory on aggregate following the team's 2-0 victory in last week's first leg in Buenos Aires.

For Zaracho, who joined Racing from Brazil's Atletico Mineiro in January, it represented a redemption-of-sorts after he missed last year's Copa Libertadores final due to a thigh injury.

"I'm very happy to have won this after the disappointment of last year," the 26-year-old said. "There's no better way to get over something like that than to win a trophy."

It was the first time that Racing has won the Recopa Sudamericana, contested by the reigning Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana champions.

Racing earned a berth in the decider by beating Cruzeiro in last year's Copa Sudamericana final while Botafogo progressed by virtue of their Copa Libertadores final victory over Atletico Mineiro. Enditem
