VIENTIANE, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Lao government and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) on Friday evaluated their ongoing collaboration to improve children's well-being in the country and set future plans.
Representatives from the Lao government and UNICEF met in Lao capital Vientiane to review their collaboration in 2024 and set plans for 2025 and 2026.
The meeting also focused on reducing dropout rates and addressing issues that directly affect youth well-being. Additionally, the participants discussed expanding youth protection programs, addressing the impacts of climate change on children, and enhancing education through innovative learning strategies.
The meeting also highlighted the development of a new educational curriculum, which has reached over 229,000 children. This curriculum focuses on learning through play and actively involving children in educational activities.
In addition, a digital education strategy for 2026 to 2034 was introduced, aimed at further advancing educational opportunities for children in Laos.
The meeting agreed on strategies to integrate sustainable, long-term goals for children's welfare, including addressing the challenges posed by climate change and ensuring that every child in Laos has access to a better quality of life. Enditem
