Kyrgyzstan's resident population increases by 1.7 pct in 2024

BISHKEK, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan's resident population increased by 119,900 people, or 1.7 percent, in 2024, reaching 7.282 million as of Jan. 1, 2025, the Kabar news agency reported on Friday, citing the country's National Statistics Committee.

According to official data, 140,400 births and 31,700 deaths were registered with civil registry offices in 2024. As a result, the natural population growth amounted to 108,700 people.

The highest natural population growth in 2024 was observed in the southern regions of the country -- Batken, Osh, and Jalalabad -- while the lowest was recorded in Bishkek and the Issyk-Kul region, the report said. Enditem
